Bowl Turning Blank 2X6
Old growth Douglas fir wood turning blanks. These are reclaimed from a 6" x 16" beam salvaged from the Central Services Facility located for 120 years on Thornton Ave in Madison WI and built in 1895. It was de-constructed in November 2015. Douglas firs cut during the late 1890's were routinely 500 to 800 years old. Think about it...........the tree this wood was cut from may have been a seedling around the year 1100.
This wood has beautiful tight grain and wonderful color. It holds an edge very well, with minimal to no tear out if your tools are sharp.
Turning blanks pre-cut and drilled 5/16 x 3/4" deep for a woodworm screw. Approximate size is 5 7/8" diameter x 1 7/8" thick. Limited quantity of 12 available. Get 'em now before they're gone. These things are pretty special.
The turned bowls are shown for reference, but all shown were cut from this very same beam. The pictures of the blanks are the actual product you will receive.
